Who We AreWhat is the Construction Roundtable? The British Columbia Construction Roundtable (BCCR) is a non-profit organization established in 1994 by senior members of the construction industry. It began as a forum for sharing experiences, ideas and knowledge. Our members represent all sectors and interests of the construction industry and include engineers, architects, public and private owners in commercial and industrial sectors, large contractors, lawyers, financiers and major suppliers. This also includes an active group of Emerging Leaders (ELG). The organization supports the industry and its members by hosting topical breakfast meetings and seminars. Offering sessions on planned projects, updates on industry advancements, new business opportunities and current industry issues, the annual program attracts high profile, knowledgeable speakers. These meetings, together with site tours and summer and winter social events, allow the industry decision-makers to proactively promote their projects, and offer members networking opportunities and the chance to share experiences and explore ideas. In addition to monthly breakfast meetings, the BCCR offers unique experiences often not available through other organizations. Our tours have included Brock Common, the tallest wood structure being built at UBC and the postal operation in Richmond. We rode on the Canada Line before it opened and had a guided tour through the Canada Line tunnel under False Creek from Olympic Village to Yaletown during construction. We were one of the first groups to ride on the Millenium Line before it opened and had a tour of each station by the architects. And we walked out to mid-span on the new Port Mann bridge. These are just a few of the opportunities that await you. Why don’t you to join us at a breakfast session and find out more? Who needs the Roundtable?Anyone involved with the construction industry can benefit from membership in the BCCR and attendance at our events. Most issues that confront the industry demand multi-faceted solutions. New management concepts, new procurement approaches, new technologies, new markets, and new projects are facts of life for the rapidly evolving construction industry. You need to stay abreast of the changes. The BCCR keeps you informed in a timely manner. It provides an excellent forum to meet with, talk to and listen to the movers and shakers, the up and comers, and other knowledgable people involved in construction in our province, the country and around the world. Why Join?Membership has its benefits! An annual membership includes reduced registration at monthly breakfast and webinar seminars, as well as our tours and socials at special rates for members. To be in the know about what is happening in the industry, women and men working in one of the many sectors of the construction industry, regardless of position or age, will benefit from becoming a member of the BCCR. It’s your chance to be first to find out about new projects or learn about government funding programs that will benefit your business. And each event offers the opportunity to network with colleagues in a congenial atmosphere. Members are encouraged to be actively involved in the organization. As a member you are invited to present projects, post your project on the BCCR website, get involved with one of our Committees, or sponsor an event which gives you the opportunity to promote your company.
