On May 17th, the BC Construction Roundtable will host a compelling round table discussion to support learning and dialogue between owners, consultants, general contractors and others in the construction industry on collaborative project delivery models. Phil Murray from Hatch, Anton Ricafort from ACCIONA and David Hubner from Infrastructure BC will start the afternoon session by offering their perspectives on collaborative contract models. Attendees will then participate in table group discussions to provide input and inform the discussion. A facilitator and a recorder will be at each table to guide to support the dialog.

With the construction industry facing increasing local, regional, national and global challenges, the need to innovate and improve project delivery is key to the successful delivery of projects. It is becoming recognized that collaborative project delivery methodologies are key to improving construction project performance.

Collaborative project delivery has been touted for bringing increased speeds, reduced costs, and a decreased likelihood of litigation to the construction industry. With such benefits, it is no surprise that many construction professionals aim to increase collaboration in many project delivery models. Common elements of working collaboratively, demonstrating transparency and creating alignment between owners, contractors and consultants are key elements of collaborative project delivery.

Table discussion themes will be documented and consolidated into white papers to be shared with attendees and BCCR members. A debrief and networking session will follow the table discussions.

The following panelists will start the afternoon session by offering their perspectives on collaborative contract models:

Philip Murray is a Civil Engineer and Hatch’s Global Director of Management & Delivery in Infrastructure. Philip graduated with a B. Sc. Civil Engineering from Queen’s in 1994 and undertook a Masters of Engineering from the University of Toronto. Over the past 28, he has worked in both the design and construction industries, including recent IPD and Alliance projects in the Transportation sector. Philip is involved in transportation projects involving the design, inspection and construction of roads, bridges, and rail/transit infrastructure. His extensive design, construction, operations & maintenance knowledge informs his mentoring and specialist advice to internal and external clients. Philip brings brevity and practicality to high-level discussions, and his honesty, energy and commitment to the client’s best interests build trust and credibility.

Anton Ricafort is a Chartered Civil Engineer (CPEng MIEAust), and has over 14 years of professional experience in engineering consultancy, construction, and business development and strategy. Anton's expertise spans the Americas, Asia, and Oceania and includes renewable energy, transportation, and water projects. This includes searching, piloting, and implementing incremental and disruptive solutions.
