Don't miss this opportunity to gain insights from Michael Sutherland, Tim Grant, Michael Heeney and Elizabeth Model on community building, economic development, and sustainable growth. 

Michael Sutherland is the Director of Urban Solutions & Associate at Hatch. Michael brings together economics, planning, urban design, transportation and engineering for public and private sector clients.  He is a recognized expert in Transit Oriented Development (TOD).  He has contributed to many of Canada’s significant TOD projects and programs. Michael is known for projects such as CIBC Square, East Harbour and Christie Cookie redevelopment in Toronto, TOD for light rail stations in Calgary, and TOD planning across Ontario and Quebec.  He also supports projects in Australia, South Africa, and the United States.

Tim Grant is President of PCI Developments. Tim leads PCI’s Executive Team and is a partner in PCI. He is actively involved in all aspects of PCI’s operations and oversees the successful completion of its projects. Tim is also on the Board, actively supporting PCI’s affiliate Warrington PCI Property Management (WPM) and is the Past Board Chair of Catalyst Community Developments Society.

Michael Heeney is President and CEO of Surrey City Development Corporation (SCDC), a company that aims to advance the City of Surrey’s transformation into a more complete community - economically, culturally, socially, and physically. Surrey’s Mayor and Council recently re-appointed Michael to this position in 2023. Before joining SCDC, Michael was the Managing Principal of Bing Thom Architects (BTA) for over two decades. Michael was awarded the designation of Fellow of the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada in 2011 for excellence in contributions to architecture and community building in Canada. Michael is a registered architect with the Architectural Institute of BC, a member of the Real Estate Institute of BC and a Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Canada. 

Moderator:

Elizabeth Model is the CEO of the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association, where she continues to contribute and collaborate in the new buildout of the Surrey City Centre. Her prior positions included General Manager for nine years for a large land development company with a diverse portfolio of businesses, including a golf course and marina, with over 100 staff. She was Executive Director of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce for 13 years, where the Chamber grew from 283 Members to over 1000 Members under her leadership. She brings strong skills in economic development, tourism, community engagement, marketing, and government relations to the boards and organizations she serves.
