The Georgia and Dunsmuir viaducts replacement is an ambitious project of a scale that has not been undertaken by the City of Vancouver in several decades. This significant infrastructure project involves demolition of existing viaducts and replacement with a new at-grade street network, integration of land development servicing, utility upgrades, enhanced public realm, green infrastructure, and seismically-resilient streets in Vancouver’s downtown. It forms the foundation to unlock over $1.5 Billion in public benefits proposed in the Northeast False Creek Area Plan. Development in this neighborhood is planned to be home for an additional 10,000-12,000 new residents, 6,000-8,000 new jobs and include a new vibrant and waterfront destination park.
As the detailed design nears completion, Peter Cohen, Senior Project Manager, will share the design and various construction disciplines being sought by the City as it prepares for procurement – potentially delivered under one contract. The speaker will provide attendees at this session with a thorough understanding of the project and potential opportunities.
