Lower Lonsdale Re-Discovered

Registration Closed

This year’s summer social takes us on an exploration of the lower Lonsdale area of North Vancouver.

Lower Lonsdale is a historic waterfront neighbourhood in the city of North Vancouver that runs up Lonsdale Avenue from Lonsdale Quay to Keith Road. Once home to an array of shipyards, sawmills, a brickyard and the North Vancouver ferry, the North Shore has a fascinating history to explore. Lower Lonsdale is currently going through large waterfront renewal processes. The old shipyards are being torn down, making way for new public spaces, condominiums, retail outlets and a hotel.

John Atkin, historian, will guide us on a walking tour of the waterfront area to look at the some of the interesting new developments and how heritage has been woven into this emerging district. We will end the tour at a watering hole for some refreshments.

Parking can be challenging so consider taking the seabus.
